Within few months of it’s previous major release Wordpress has today released yet another major version “Wordpress 2.9 Carmen” named after magical jazz vocalist Carmen McRae. According to official statement over 500 tickets, bugs, and enhancements have been addressed in wordpress 2.9.

Some of the notable enhancements are

Trash / Global undo feature – This feature is same as recycle bin in Microsoft’s Windows which enables you to restore your deleted posts or comments.

Image Editor – This new feature allows user to edit, crop or scale images within your dashboard.

Batch Plugin Update – With this feature you can update as many as 10 plugins in one go as compared to clicking each plugin’s upgrade button.

Video Embeds -  This feature allow you to just paste a URL on its own line and have it magically turn it into the proper embed code, with Oembed support for YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv
