Microsoft released it first Windows XP patch for Year 2010. In this month of January there is only one patch released.This patch fixes security hole in OpenType font engine. This vulnerability could allow remote code execution by a specially crafted fonts embedded in a file of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer. The patch has been rated low for Windows Xp.
Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday for October 2009 had a big list of updates 13 to be exact, most of which have been rated as critical. Users are recommended to update it as soon as possible.
Microsoft released update and patches for upcoming Windows 7 on Patch Tuesday. Windows 7 got it’s first critical update before the release date 22 October 2009. As the code was finalized in July, users have to install the update separately.
Microsoft has released windows xp security patches for the month of August 2009. On this month’s patch Tuesday majority of the security patches are termed as critical. You are advised to download it as soon as possible and update your windows xp.
Prior to this you are also advised to install the service pack 3.
