Google released new version of it’s free desktop photo organizer Picasa 3.5 few days back. The latest feature introduced by Google is a face recognition and ability to sync it with Picasa Web Albums.
A new sidebar menu list by the name of “People” is added. Picasa starts to scan your entire drive for photos which have peoples in them, the photos of landscapes objects and very smartly skipped. Similar photos are group for you, which you can tag with name like “Me”, “Uncle” “My Daughter” etc. once you have named Picasa tries to add photos with similar faces to the group. You are provided with photos to approve them. For my laptop Picasa took 3 hours to completely scan my hard drive.

Paint.NET a free image and photo editing software was developed as a free and advanced replacement for Microsoft Paint, but as the development of this software proceeded new features were added to it like supports for layers,unlimited undo,special effects and filters. Eventually making it a more like a Adobe Photoshop alternate. While it is still not on par with Photoshop, but for a designer who does not need too much professional features for him it is best of all in freeware category.An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.
